What is 2048?

2048 is a classic number-based puzzle game where strategy matters more than speed. Belonging to the Puzzle / Logic genre, the game challenges players to combine matching tiles on a 4x4 grid to create higher numbers.

The core mission is simple: merge tiles until you reach the 2048 tile. However, the real challenge lies in managing limited space. Once the board fills up and no moves remain, the game ends.

Unlike fast-paced arcade games, 2048 has no timer. The pressure comes from every decision you make and how well you plan.

How to play the number game

Core Mechanics

You begin with a few tiles showing 2 or 4 placed randomly on the grid. Each time you swipe or press an arrow key, all tiles slide in that direction.

When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value.

After every move, a new tile appears. As the board fills up, your room to manoeuvre becomes smaller and more critical.
